Calculate exact score for the Individual Physical Proficiency Test (IPPT), which is a mandatory fitness test for male Singaporeans who are NSmen (National Servicemen) or NSFs (Full-time National Servicemen).
How is IPPT score Calculated?
The score is calculated based on performance in three stations:
- Push-ups (1 minute)
- Sit-ups (1 minute)
- 2.4 km run (timed)
Each station has a point system depending on your age group and performance. The total score is the sum of all three stations, with a maximum of 100 points.
Step 1: Identify Your Age Group
Scoring tables differ depending on age brackets (e.g., 18–24, 25–29, 30–34, …, up to 60+).
Step 2: Find Points for Each Station
- Push-ups: More reps = higher points.
- Sit-ups: Same, more reps = higher points.
- 2.4 km run: Faster timing = higher points.
You can see score tables in PDF below to find your exact points.
For example (male, age 22–24 bracket):
- 59 push-ups ≈ 25 points
- 55 sit-ups ≈ 24 points
- 2.4 km in 9:45 min ≈ 45 points
- Total = 94 (Gold $500)
Step 3: Add Up Points
- Gold with Commando Standard: 100 points (with run below a stricter cut-off)
- Gold: ≥ 90 points
- Silver: ≥ 75 points
- Pass (Incentive): ≥ 61 points
- Fail: ≤ 60 points
Instead of doing all this manually, you can also use the above IPPT calculator.

IPPT Passing Criteria & Awards
The official “window” when you must take the IPPT test runs from 1 April to 31 March of the next year.
If you are posted to a new unit, Your IPPT window begins on your next birthday, but you can start taking your IPPT from the effective date of posting to the new unit. Provisions to allow the early opening of your IPPT window ahead of your next birthday have been implemented. Any IPPT attempts or incentive awards achieved during this early window are considered as within the same IPPT window.
Following is the table of passing criteria for the IPPT;
| IPPT Scores Required | Cash Incentive | Type of Award |
|---|---|---|
| ≥ 90 | $500 | Gold (Commandos, Guards, Divers) |
| ≥ 85 | $500 | Gold (NSmen & NSFs) |
| ≥ 75 | $300 | Silver (NSmen & NSFs) |
| ≥ 61 | $200 | Pass with incentive (NSmen), Pass (NSFs) |
| ≥ 51 | $0 | Pass (NSmen) |
In Singapore’s IPPT, there is currently no IPPT requirement for females, which means the official IPPT calculation methods apply only to males, specifically, to male NSFs (Full-time National Servicemen) and NSmen (Operationally Ready National Servicemen).
